Two months later….

After the last couple of days events, our oncologist wanted to see Rio, so we went to see Dr. Sarah this morning and…  and we are OKAY!  Good vitals, the appetite is back (with a vengeance, I might add) and her energy level is much, much better.  We even played ball out in the yard for a teeny bit today (it was so, so nice and it’s been such a long, cold, grey winter).

And (shout out for the Woo), it’s been two months since her surgery!  (I don’t know why, but I am resistant to labeling it with such a cute name, “ampuversary” — maybe because it was such a huge and serious thing, for both of us.)  She’s recovered nicely from the surgery — actually, in reading the posts and such on this site, I feel like we have been extremely fortunate with how easily we went through the recovery period.  Other than her “stem to stern” bruising, the only problem we had was a tiny bit of Lick Patrol.  (Rio had an absolute TON of bruising initially — make sure you tell your surgeon if you are on fish oil supplements at the time of your surgery.  Fish oil is a blood thinner and therefore can cause a LOT of bruising!!!!)  Now, if only her hair would grow back, there would be serious celebrations here!

We are beyond thankful that Woo is the Woo.  And since her prognosis without surgery was 6 weeks to 2 months, I guess everything from here on in on is just FROSTING!!!!!! And who doesn’t love frosting?!

GO WOOOOOOOOOO!  You rock my world!  And since it’s taken me so long to write this, I’m now a day late!  (Way to go, Mom!)  But, I still would like to dedicate this song to my little trooper, my warrior princess, my heart, my Woo:

You’re better than the best
I’m lucky just to linger in your light
Cooler than the flip side
Of my pillow, that’s right

Completely unaware
Nothing can compare to where
You send me, lets me know that it’s okay
Yeah, it’s okay
And the moments where my good times start to fade

You make me smile like the sun, fall out of bed
Sing like bird, dizzy in my head
Spin like a record, crazy on a Sunday night

You make me dance like a fool, forget how to breathe
Shine like gold, buzz like a bee
Just the thought of you can drive me wild
Oh, you make me smile

Even when you’re gone,
Somehow you come along just like
A flower pokin’ through the sidewalk crack
And just like that
You steal away the rain, and just like that

You make me smile like the sun, fall out of bed
Sing like bird, dizzy in my head
Spin like a record, crazy on a Sunday night

You make me dance like a fool, forget how to breathe
Shine like gold, buzz like a bee
Just the thought of you can drive me wild
Oh, you make me smile

Don’t know how I lived without you
‘Cause every time that I get around you
I see the best of me inside your eyes
You make me smile

You make me dance like a fool, forget how to breathe
Shine like gold, buzz like a bee
Just the thought of you can drive me wild

You make me smile like the sun, fall out of bed
Sing like bird, dizzy in my head
Spin like a record, crazy on a Sunday night

You make me dance like a fool, forget how to breathe
Shine like gold, buzz like a bee
Just the thought of you can drive me wild
Oh, you make me smile*

Love you, my bestest girl…..

  1. Awwww, Paws up Rio! Great progress report! You go Girl! Such great news for you and for Mom, too! Hope you gals get outside more and ENJOY!
    Love the song!

  2. Woo hoo Woo! So glad to know you had a completely uneventful doctor visit. Aren’t those the best?! As for the two-month anniversary of ridding yourself of your lame-o leg, we don’t have to give it a funny name, but we can still celebrate what it means: your new beginning, your new chance. So we wish you many happy returns of the day! (You are two days ahead of us!).

You go, you tough old broad! Mwah!

    Love, Dakota and Shari
